Direct Cremation—sometimes called Non-Attended Cremation, Pure Cremation, or Simple Cremation—offers a respectful and straightforward way to say goodbye, without a traditional funeral service. At Gaunts of Kidderminster, we’re proud to offer a locally managed service that ensures your loved one is cared for by a trusted, family-owned funeral director.

Unlike national providers or TV-advertised services, we handle every step personally and locally, with compassion, dignity, and professionalism at the heart of everything we do.

What Makes Our Direct Cremation Service Different?

Personal, Local Care: Your loved one stays in our care from the moment we collect them until the day of cremation. We never outsource or transport them long distances.
A Hearse, Always: We provide a traditional hearse to convey your loved one to the crematorium, ensuring a respectful journey.
Dedicated Team: A funeral director and professional bearers are always present to accompany and guide the service.
A Suitable Coffin Included: We provide a quality coffin, chosen with dignity and simplicity in mind.
Your Involvement Matters: You’re welcome to attend the crematorium as your loved one arrives. We invite you to choose music for the entrance and offer a moment of reflection, including a reading, prayer, or poem as the curtain closes.
All Paperwork Managed: We take care of every legal and logistical detail, arrange the date and time for the cremation, and handle the required documentation on your behalf.
Ashes Returned or Arranged as You Wish: Following the cremation, we return your loved one’s ashes to you or assist with alternative wishes, such as scattering or memorial interment.

How Much Does It Cost?

We offer a Simple Direct Cremation Package for £1,800, which includes:#

Collection and care of your loved one
Suitable coffin
Use of a traditional hearse
Funeral director and bearers
Crematorium fees
Personal touches like music selection and a short reading
Handling all paperwork
Return of ashes or alternative arrangements

Please note:

An additional £120 surcharge applies if the transfer into our care takes place outside of office hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm).

There are no funeral services or gatherings as part of this package—keeping the process dignified but simple.
